Thief River Falls and Pennington County: A postcard history book titled “Thief River Falls and Pennington County,” part of Arcadia Publishing’s postcard history series, is available for purchase. The 128-page book was authored by Thief River Falls resident Caryl Bugge, with assistance from the Pennington County Historical Society’s (PCHS) Advisory Committee. The book takes a unique look at Thief River Falls and northwest Minnesota’s history through photographs that specifically appeared on postcards. The book is NOT available at PCHS or the Village. It retails for $19.99. The author has assigned the royalities to PCHS. The total cost of the book will be $21.29. Mail orders and e-mail orders will be accepted by H.D. Floral. Within the continental United States the cost, including shipping and handling, will be $25.

Where Two Rivers Meet, A 100-Year Centennial History of Thief River Falls, 1896-1996, published by “Thief River Falls Times”, 1996.  Revised from the original book entitled “Where Two Rivers Meet, A Diamond Jubilee History of Thief River Falls” by Mary Croteau.  Historical sources used to create the original “Two Rivers” book and this edition have been written records of the history of Thief River Falls found in books, newspaper articles, and city directories published from 1908 to date, and more current books authored by local writers.  The chapters have been expanded to include information up to 1995 and photos and histories of businesses have been updated.

Women of Thief River Falls at the Turn of the Century, A Study of Life in a Boom Town, 1895-1905, by Gretchen Beito.  Published by the Pennington County Historical Society, Thief River Falls, 1997.  This booklet was prepared for the class “Introduction to Research” at the University of North Dakota.  Instructor was Dr. Richard Beringer.  It contains many photographs and stories about the women living in Thief River Falls at the turn of the century.   It is a revision of a previous edition, 1997.
