Does intercooler spray work?
CO2 spraying of Intercoolers can be very effective. A bunch of the Turbo guys are running CO2 IC sprayers at our local Hillclimbs with VERY effective results.
What does intercooler spray do?
An intercooler sprayer is essentially a set of water jets that can spray down an intercooler and soak it with a liquid. Cooling that charge will not only help you increase power to your motor, but if the intercooler is mounted in front of the engine radiator, will help keep engine temperatures cool as well.
Do black intercoolers work better?
Re: Black vs silver intercooler test they just proved an intercooler in still air works better if it’s black, and works slightly worse at speed. That makes sense. the paint works as a slight insulating layer, slightly reducing the heat rejection in a forced-air situation.
Can your intercooler be too big?
It should be noted, however, that too large of an intercooler can actually do more harm than good. If you have an extremely massive intercooler, you will cause more turbocharger lag and more drag inside the whole system.
Is a bigger intercooler worth it?
Is an intercooler upgrade worth it? The charge air temperature will be lower resulting in denser air, but the larger intercooler can add a slight amount of drag which can somewhat negate any power gains. The real benefits come if you combine this intercooler system with some engine tuning.
Does a top mount intercooler add horsepower?
The result is increased power output. So, the answer to the question is yes! An intercooler does help to increase horsepower. Adding an intercooler to an aspirated engine setup won’t make much difference to the engine’s output.
How do I clean the outside of my intercooler?
You can use Simple Green. It will clean away the dirt and grease just fine without doing any damage to the aluminum. Just put some in a spray bottle, spray the core and tanks, let it sit for a few minutes and then just rinse away with water.
How do you clean a top mount intercooler?
Spray the outside and inlets of the intercooler with degreaser to prepare any gunk or debris for removal. After that, you can use acetone or kerosene to rinse out the intercooler. Place in a container and pour the liquid through the inlet, shimmy it slightly and then let it sit for about 15 minutes.
