- Take a Look. Go to FamilySearch.org/tree and sign in. View your tree in portrait view (pictured).
- Add More. If you have less than 3 generations, go to familysearch.org/first-run to fill things in.
- Search and Link. Click on an ancestor’s name in the Family Tree, then on Person.
How reliable are ThruLines on ancestry?
Since ThruLines are based on the family trees of you and other members of Ancestry, they’re as accurate as the trees they’re based on. Mistakes in family trees can cause inaccurate ThruLines. Because they’re based on trees, ThruLines don’t prove your specific connection to a DNA match.

As the GRO have made birth and death indexes up to 1918 and 1957 respectively available online, and Census Returns are available on pay-to-view sites such as FindmyPast, Ancestry and The Genealogist, and free sites such as FreeCen, you may be able to trace your family tree back to 1837 without leaving the house.
