Is the Mai-Kai going to reopen?
Nine months after the water-damaged Mai-Kai Restaurant and Polynesian Show put its iconic building and land up for sale, the 64-year-old landmark has landed a fleet of new investors – with ambitious plans to reopen part of the property by spring 2022.
Why is Mai-Kai closed?
The Mai-Kai was forced to close in October 2020 when a plumbing incident flooded the kitchen and caused catastrophic damage. The family said close to $5 million will go into giving the kitchen a full renovation and restoring the property to its historical condition.
How much is Mai-Kai show?
The Mai Kai Dinner Show package includes the cover charge (Regularly $10), a 3-course meal with an appetizer, entree, dessert, and tax (gratuity not included) The retail price is $50 and our online price is only $39.95. The Mai Kai is famous for their Polynesian Show and excellent food.
What do you wear to Mai-Kai?
Please be advised we do have a Business casual dress code for the bar and dining rooms. No shoes meant for swimming or beach (flip flops or such sandals ok for the women). No swimwear or gym attire. No hats for men.
Who owns Mai-Kai Fort Lauderdale?
Mai-Kai Restaurant and Polynesian Show is on the National Register of Historic Places. Dave Levy, Bob Thornton’s stepson, and Levy’s sister, Kulani Gelardi, will remain investors in Mai-Kai. Mirielle Thornton will continue to run the Polynesian show in a role she has held since 1962.
When is happy hour at the Mai Kai?
Happy hour Tuesday – Sunday from opening – 7 pm. Nightly drink specials are also available. The Mai-Kai is proud to be the home of the longest running Polynesian Show in the United States (including Hawaii). We seat you for dinner before the show begins to give you ample time to order from our award winning cuisine.

When is the Kid’s Islanders Revue at Mai Kai?
The revue is a favorite of all ages. Our very popular Kid’s Islanders Revue runs every Sunday from June until November, children from family members of the Mai-Kai owners, friends and employees, join the professional dance troupe in the fast-paced show. No visit to Mai-Kai is complete without a tour of the gardens.
What foods are served at Mai Kai Restaurant?
Off Premise Catering with or without the show. The award winning cuisine includes Prime Steaks grilled to perfection, Fresh Fish and Seafood, Asian dishes to house specialties like Peking Duck, Rack of Lamb and Lobster Bora Bora. Many of the items are cooked in authentic Chinese wood burning ovens.
