Lime Crime was originally founded as an independent company by Doe Deere and her husband, Mark Dumbleton, in 2008. However, in 2018, the brand was purchased by Tengram Capital Partners, a private equity firm that aimed to develop Lime Crime as a conventional and commercially acceptable brand.
