What are mepilex bandages used for?
Benefits of Mepilex Border Mepilex Border is designed for a wide range of exuding wounds such as pressure ulcers, leg and foot ulcers, traumatic wounds (e.g., skin tears) and surgical wounds. Mepilex Border can also be used on dry/necrotic wounds in combination with gels.
How long can mepilex stay on?
The Mepilex® Ag foam dressing can stay in place up to seven days. Only the outer dressing (gauze bandage) needs to be changed each day.
Does mepilex stick to wound?
Because the Safetac layer does not stick to the wound, the dressing can be adjusted or changed without damaging the wound or surrounding skin. This minimizes pain and trauma at dressing changes. This is particularly beneficial for children and elderly adults with tender skin.
Can you shower with mepilex dressing?
The dressing is also water resistant to allow the patients to shower. Mepilex® Border Flex may be left in place up to 7 days, depending on the condition of the wound and surrounding skin, or as indicated by accepted clinical practice.
Is mepilex good for open wounds?
A combination of products may be the best choice. An alginate (KALTOSTAT) may be used to pack/absorb drainage in an open wound. If drainage is excessive, a foam (MEPILEX) may be added for even more absorption, cutting down on “nursing” time.

Can you use Mepilex with a Tubifast fixation?
You can use Mepilex together with our Tubifast ® fixation. Always clean the wound prior to applying a dressing. The dressing should overlap the wound bed by at least 2 cm onto the surrounding skin.
