A late submission penalty is typically 10 marks. Broadly speaking, missing one essay deadline is likely to affect less than 0.5% of your overall mark. A good piece of work can be more than 10 marks better than a rushed one. In a work context, it depends what the deadline was.

Can I apply for uni late?

If you don’t meet the main application deadline, you can still apply for many courses. We recommend you ask the universities whether they have vacancies first – especially for courses with a 15 October deadline, as it’s unusual for them to consider late applications because their courses are really competitive.

How long does clearing take to confirm?

Most of the Clearing process happens over the phone – it’s only the last step that requires a Clearing number and the ‘Add a Clearing Choice’ button on UCAS Track. If you had to be released by either your firm or insurance, you will need to wait for confirmation that this has been done, which may take up to 2 weeks.
