What is Turcite b coating?

What is Turcite b coating?

Turcite® -B Slydway® is a low friction linear bearing strip C for use primarily on the ways and gibs of machine tools. It provides low friction, stick-slip-free operation, long life and minimum wear. It is installed using a two-part epoxy resin after cleaning and degreasing the bare metal surface thoroughly.

What is Turcite material?

Turcite® is an internally lubricated, acetal-based material (with properties similar to those of Delrin AF) designed for applications with demanding wear and friction requirements. Turcite® creates little friction, is heat and chemical resistant, and exhibits excellent wear characteristics.

Who manufactures Turcite?

Turcite® is a self-lubricating thermoplastic bearing material manufactured by Trelleborg Sealing Solutions U.S., Inc. These materials are cost effective, chemically resistant, wear resistant, and can be used in a wide range of temperatures. There are two grades of Turcite®: Turcite® A and Turcite® X.

What is Delrin AF?

Delrin® AF Blend is a unique thermoplastic material for use in moving parts in which low friction and long wear life are important. It is a combination of PTFE fibers uniformly dispersed in Delrin® acetal resin. Bearings made of Delrin® AF Blend can operate at higher speeds while exhibiting reduced wear.

What is the difference between Delrin and Delrin AF?

Delrin® AF Blend retains approximately 90% of the mechanical strength and rigidity of Delrin®, but with improved bearing and sliding properties, and almost no ‘slip-stick’ characteristics. Other formulations available are Delrin® 100AF containing 20% Teflon fibers and provides even lower frictional properties.

What color is Delrin AF?

dark brown
Delrin® AF Blend retains 90% of the strength that is inherent in unmodified Delrin acetal. Some properties are changed due to the addition of the softer PTFE fiber. The natural color of Delrin® AF Blend is dark brown.

What is the difference between Delrin and Teflon?

Delrin is a thermoplastic material, unlike Teflon. Teflon is made of polytetrafluoroethylene. Whereas, Delrin is composed of polyoxymethylene. Teflon has dielectric properties and is used in electric circuits.

Is Delrin slippery?

Delrin AF is a combination of 10-25% oriented PTFE fluorocarbon fibers uniformly dispersed in Acetal/Delrin resin. The resulting product is one that possesses the strength, toughness, and dimensional stability of Acetal with the added properties of PTFE, which is one of the world’s most slippery solid materials.

What does Delrin AF stand for?

DELRIN ® AF (PTFE-filled) is manufactured from Delrin ® homopolymer resin which has been uniformly filled with a dispersion of 20% PTFE fibers. Delrin ® AF is a unique thermoplastic material for use in moving parts in which low friction and long wear life are important.

Is Delrin stronger than Teflon?

What’s surprising about Delrin, is its less heat resistant than Teflon. Since it’s melting point is almost three times less than that of Teflon. So you can’t really use it when temperatures rise to the level of a furnace overheating.

Which is stronger nylon or Teflon?

Teflon Washers. Teflon, for example, is a hydrophobic material, while nylon is hydrophilic. As a result, any piece of machinery that requires greater lubrication should be constructed with Teflon rather than nylon, since Teflon’s water-repellant properties make it a stronger lubricant.

What kind of bearing material is turcite B?

Turcite® B is a polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) based bearing material with low friction for machine tool industry linear bearing applications. Turcite B comes in 12″ and 24″ wide rolls, or custom cut to your specifications. Rolls up to 60 feet long are available upon request (lead-time may apply)

What kind of material is turcite B slydway sheets made of?

Turcite® B Slydway – Linear Bearing Material. Turcite is PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) resins with added fillers such as bronze, that are extruded into solid billets as opposed to compression molding. Billets are then skived to a nominal thickness in 24″ wide rolls, with lengths varying depending on thickness.

How big is a roll of turcite B?

Turcite B comes in 12″ and 24″ wide rolls, or custom cut to your specifications. Testing has shown that PTFE based compounds are resistant to virtually all media, cutting fluids and slideway oils. Additionally, these compounds feature outstanding wear resistance and friction characteristics.

What kind of resin is turcite sheets made of?

Turcite is PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) resins with added fillers such as bronze, that are extruded into solid billets as opposed to compression molding.
